Description
Android Developer Intern
May 2018 – Nov 2018
Java, Android SDK (VIPER-style architecture)
As part of Starbucks’ Android team, I helped improve the company’s mobile payment app by fixing bugs, enhancing the payment interface, and deploying updates used by millions of users. I collaborated closely with Seattle-based engineers in an Agile team environment to support the app's performance and design quality.
One highlight of my internship was participating in Starbucks' internal SiX Hackathon. Motivated by my own experience feeling overwhelmed by drink options, I led a cross-functional team to prototype a Tinder-style drink recommendation tool. Users could swipe on taste preferences like "sweet," "chocolate," or "hot," and we used machine learning to suggest customized beverages.
I wore many hats—product planning, visual design, and frontend development—using Photoshop, Illustrator, and hand-lettering to design branded assets and building the swiping UI in Android. Our project earned recognition from then-CEO Kevin Johnson and won "Best Customer-Facing Project."
